Biography

Dorothy A. Martinez, 74, a resident of Chimayo, NM. passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2012. She was born on January 27, 1938 to Luis and Erlinda Moya formerly of Alcalde, NM. Dorothy will always be remembered for her loving heart. She opened up her home to all her family and friends and always had a word of encouragement to anyone she spoke to. She always kept her grandchildren close to her heart. She loved to dance and cook for her family. She was the social butterfly of the family and the glue that held them together. Through all her joys and struggles she kept a positive attitude and until the very end she loved life. It brings her family peace to know she lived her life to the fullest. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso L. Martinez Sr., sons, Alfonso Jr., Kenneth, and Steven, grandson Kevin, great grandson, Dion. Sons in law, Martin Medina and Tommy Medina. Parents, Luis and Erlinda Moya, brothers, Rosendo, Luis “Moyita”, and Tomas. Also, her special aunts whom she considered as her second mothers, Amelia Maestas and Sophia Pana. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Erlinda (Joe), Renee and companion Pete, grandchildren, Diandra and fiancé, Aaron, Rey-Lynn and fiance, Russell, Reyna (God daughter), Sonya, Elissa and Joe, great grandchildren, Aaron Jr., Arianna, Ryan, Rocky, Rheyssa, Monique, Marissa, Isaiah, Adam Jr., Kevin Jr., Dominic, Dionna and Joe Jr., daughters in law, Diana Martinez and Diane Abeyta “Pini”, brother Willie Moya and wife Yolanda, sisters, Nancy and Geraldine, Aunt Elyza, close cousins, Zac and wife Sylvia, and Joseph and wife Annabelle, Flora and companion Kenny, Dolores and husband Joe, Tomasita, Chris and wife Mae, and Marylena, God daughter, Antonia and husband Joseph, Godson, Isaac Pana, God daughter, Rachel Pana, brother in law Aaron Martinez and wife Barbara, sisters in law, Pat and Christine and husband Ray, close friends, Lita and Leroy Ortiz and numerous nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Isaac Pana, Zac Pana, Joseph Pana, Joe Martinez, Aaron Scheuermann and Russell Trujillo. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 3 PM at Rivera Chapel. Rosaries will be recited on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 6 PM at Rivera Chapel and on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 7 PM at Rivera Chapel. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 9 AM at the Holy Family Catholic church with interment to follow at 11:15 AM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
