Biography

Age 86, of Manawa, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2011 at St. Joseph Residence in New London following a brief illness. She was born on June 27, 1925 in the Town of Union, Waupaca County, daughter of the late Max and Elnora (Wohlrabe) Voss. On January 15, 1944 she was united in marriage to Harold R. Jawort in Symco. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1986. Delores and Harold farmed in the Town of Little Wolf until they retired and moved to the city of Manawa. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa and their Ladies Aid. Delores loved to spend time with her family and friends. Delores was an avid gardener and baker; she was especially proud of her roses, tomatoes and often requested cherry torte.

She is survived by two sons: Robert (Jan) Jawort, Manawa; Dean (Patricia) Jawort, Menasha; grandchildren: Robin Jawort, Cory Jawort, Tammie (Bert) Harris, Manawa; Stacy Jawort and Jodi (Trevor) Martin, Menasha; great-grandchildren: Andy, Tanner, Emily and Kyle Harris; Zander and Adele Martin; two brothers: Evan (Evangeline) Voss, New London; Frank (Joyce) Voss, Manawa; also many nieces and nephews.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two sisters: Geraldine Voss and Dorothy (Clarence) Rosenau; one brother: Victor (Doris) Voss; one infant grandson: Michael Harris; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ruth Jawort, Leonard and Hazel Jawort and William and Dora Breier.

The funeral service for Delores will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa with Rev. Vilas Mazemke officiating. Burial will be in Little Wolf Cemetery in the Town of Little Wolf. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Margaret Bailey, Kris Cartwright and Hope Piotter for their friendship, compassion and care during Delores’s long struggle with dementia.
