Mr. Harris was a graduate of Sam Houston State University Police Academy and served in the Air Force. He was a member of the Jacees in Huntsville and the American Legion in Texarkana, AR. He also worked as an over-the road truck driver for over 40 years. Harold loved being outside and would get lost for hours riding his special friend Champ. He loved reading history murder and true crime novels. Among his favorite activities were: horseback riding, Elvis, and eating PB. Banana and miracle whip sandwiches.
Surviving him are one daughter and son-in-law Novella Jo and Bobby Huddleston of Hughes Springs; one son and daughter-in-law Harold Ernest Harris, Jr. and wife Stacey of Hughes Springs; three sisters and brothers-in-law Carol Stell of Houston, Pat and Jimmy Wolf of Texarkana, AR and Michele and Darryl Willard of Streetman; six grandchildren ‘Lil Bobby, Billy, Shacota, Tommy, Katy and Breanna; and a number of nieces and nephews.
They say the measure of a man is not in the riches he accumulated here on earth; but the good he left behind. Harold was generous to a fault, loved his family and left behind story after story that we will laugh about long after today!
