Dear Susan: Nancy and I have thought often of you and Art over the years. By chance we drove by your old house on River Road about a month ago and were reminiscing about the great pool parties with the old Behavioral Science bunch.

Art was a great mentor to many of us and we are most grateful. Mike and Nancy Walsh

All of our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. We will remember what a wonderful, giving, and brilliat man Art was, and how lucky so many of us were to have been touched by him. We can only be envious of how fortunate those will be who he will touch in his next adventure.

Elaine and I have known and loved Art for more than 25 years. We send our sympathy and love to Susan, Hunter and John and to all the good people of Taos who were so blessed to have Art among them.

Susan and family,

Art brought the magic of reading and of Christmas to Taosenos. It is difficult to think of him leaving during this holiday season.

He set a standard of quality, encouraged good writing and showcased those who made our lives richer through hard-won wordsmithing.

Often we are reminded of the words of Annie Dillard in "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek" in which she writes that at the end the dying cry not "please" but "thank you" as a guest thanks his host at the door ... and leave dancing to the twin silver trumpets of joy.

That is what I envision for Art as he dances, forever young, to those silver trumpets.

We would like to express our deepest and most sincere sympathies to Susan, John and Hunter. Art was a kind and wonderful man who was loved and respected by all who were privileged to have known him. He never met a person or a pun that he did not like. He leaves a legacy that has enriched our lives. We will miss him dearly!

We were away and just learned about Art's passing. He was a true pioneer and a giant of a figure in the underwater community. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

We first met Art over 20 years ago through the Secret Service and Our World Underwater. At rare times in our life we are allowed to know some truly great individuals. It was out privilege to know Art.

I appreciated your sense of PUNS - frequently ending your underwater slide shows with FINS.
Now my dear friend you have reached that part of your show which is FINS. May these FINS help propel you into that unknown ocean of love --
