Memorial services for Ethel Mae Winnett, 89, of Temple will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Taylors Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Loudin officiating. Private burial was held at Little Flock Cemetery.
Mrs. Winnett died Friday June 29, 2012 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Winnett was born in Dime Box November 4, 1922 to Will Jackson and Bertha Wilson Jackson. She moved from Smithville to Temple many years ago and has spent most of her life here. She married Clarence Winnett Feb. 23, 1942. He preceded her in death June 21, 2008. Mrs. Winnett was a citizen of Temple most of her life. She was a Liscensed Vocational Nurse and a Respiratory Therapist that worked for the Temple VA. When she retired she spent most of her time entertaining and enjoying the lives of her four grandchildren and later her 7 great-grandchildren. In her "spare" time she enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, sewing, quilting, fishing, camping, and raising dogs.
Ethel was known as "Mamaw" for the last 50 years and will be forever remembered.
She was a member of Taylors Valley Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by one son Clarence Jackson Winnett, Jr.
Survivors include one daughter Glenda Johnson of Eugene, Oregon; two sisters Lorine Rubac of Temple and Joyce Ruhl of Fort Worth; two brothers Walter Earl Anthony of Houston and Jerry Tye of San Antonio; four grandchildren Glen Johnson of Eugene, Oregon, Steve Johnson and his wife Nina of Temple, Crystal Funk and her husband Karl of Waco and Heather Perry and her husband Rex of Paige; eight grandchildren Avery, Kory and Tyler Funk, Dancey Johnson, Patrick Howland, Brent and Logan Perry and Jade Rainsong and one great great grandchild Caylin Adaire Cloud.
