L V Nelson, age 65, of Troy died Sunday, December 30, 2007 in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, January 5, 2008 at his daughter, Michelle Allen's residence, in Henryetta, Oklahoma with Rev. Jim Pasley officiating. Burial will be private.
Mr. Nelson was born June 15, 1942 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Jewett and Emma (McCoy) Nelson. He was reared and educated in Henryetta. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army National Guard. He worked in the oil fields as a driller in California and Texas for many years. While living in Henryetta he supported the local schools and athletic programs. He had been a resident of the Killeen and Temple areas for the past 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Helen Nelson and Julie Bullard-Nuckolls and one brother, Robert McLeland. Survivors include two daughters, Marsha McCaa and husband, Nathan of Troy, Michelle Allen and husband, Greg of Henryetta, two sons, Jewett Nelson and Frank Nelson both of Henryetta and seven grandchildren, Wesley Nelson, Chris Maxey, Amanda Allen, Chelsea, Megan and Jadyn Nelson and Ryker McCaa. Also surviving is one sister, Veta Hulse of Henryetta, five brothers, Gene Nelson and Raymond Nelson both of Henryetta, Claude Nelson and Barney Nelson both of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Ronnie Nelson of Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
